City of Kitchener Councillors and Staff pitch in

City of Kitchener Counillors and staff wore hard hats, steel toe boots and safety glasses at the Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region build on Howe Drive.

The owner of the home, Penny Harvey was also on site. 570 News caught up with Harvey while she helped paint. She is thankful for the Habitat build, "It means my family, which consists of me and my daughter, an opportunity for me as a single mom, to own a home of our own to show that you can do it yourself."

Harvey invites other to come out and volunteer, "know that every little bit helps. Habitat is for a hand-up, not a hand-out"

Check out this view of the team hard at work while they rolled up their sleeves to help build affordable housing below, including more interviews with Kitchener councillors and staff as well as Havey.
