Since 1988, Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region, with the support of volunteers and sponsors, has renovated and built 90 homes for low-income families in Waterloo Region. Some of Habitat's projects are highlighted below:

 

1989 Habitat Waterloo's first undertaking - a house renovation for a family of 6

 

1990 New single detached home for family of 10

 

1991 Renovation of existing house for family of 4

 

1992 Renovation of existing house for family of 3, and built two new homes for families of 4

 

1993 The Jimmy Carter Work Project  - A historical moment that Habitat Waterloo will cherish always. This unique project brought an army of volunteers together to build 10 new homes in one week for 53 adults and children

 

1994 New single detached home for family of 6

 

1996 A busy year for Habitat Waterloo - House move and renovation in Kitchener for family of 4, new home in Cambridge for family of 5, house addition and renovation in Kitchener for family of 5

 

1997 Habitat's first townhouse project in Kitchener - 3 homes for family of 6, 5 and 3. 1 home also built in Cambridge for family of 7

 

1998 Two semi-detached homes built for family of 3 and 4

 

1999 1 raised bungalow in Cambridge built, 1 semi-detached bungalow in Kitchener, and 1 four-level back split in Waterloo

 

2000-2005 Over this period of time Habitat diligently built or renovated 40 homes across the Waterloo Region

 

2006 - 2009 Habitat Waterloo set off in a new direction by starting to build their first condominium project, a 19 unit townhome development located on Cherry Street in downtown Kitchener

 

2010 Habitat Waterloo begins working on another multi-family dwelling on Howe Drive in Kitchener. Habitat has completed 5 of the 15 homes and will continue building this year.
